Prayer for when you need a break

Sometimes, we need to take a break. This doesn’t mean we abandon our responsibilities. Instead, it’s a way to maintain a fresh perspective about life, even during troubled times.

Dedicate some quality time to our heavenly Father. It’s truly amazing how he can restore you and lift your mood. His Spirit puts everything in perspective. The Lord lets us escape from the mental prison of fear that traps us sometimes.

You will understand if you do it. Find the right time and place. Go back to him. Sit and listen to the Spirit of God. Let him re-energize you. Then arise again with Christ to face the world with courage and confidence.

PRAYER FOR WHEN YOU NEED A BREAK

O blessed Lord,

I just need a break now, a rest from all the noise. So here I am, O Lord. I seek your presence.

I don’t plan to be irresponsible. I won’t crumble. I’m in it for the long haul as I am your child. Confident. Secure with you.

But now, just for a moment, I need to forget the trouble. Let me float for a while in the quiet stream of your grace.

Take me back to that place where you showed me what it means to know God loves me. Deep joy. Sweet mercy.

Show me how to live there now knowing my soul is safe, knowing God is real, and knowing Jesus sets me free.

Let the rest of the world fret & worry. but as for me, I will trust in the Lord.

In Jesus name,

Amen.

Prayer of praise to God during trials

Sometimes the last thing on our minds is exactly what we should be doing. As the entire world is worried about the current crisis, we should remain informed and responsible. Still, world events shouldn’t consume our lives. Our focus should always be on God.

There are many episodes in the Bible where God’s people lifted up their voices to praise him. This happened mostly during two situations: danger and celebration.

God’s word shows us clearly that in times of crisis, we should praise him. Why? It shows how much we depend on him and trust him… especially during tough times.

The world is crying out for answers. The Body of Christ–from all Christian denominations–should be crying out to God in praise.

So let’s praise him during the danger, and then again in the celebration… which is Christ our Lord.

After this I looked, and behold, a great multitude which no man could number, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and tongues, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, with palm branches in their hands, and crying out with a loud voice,

“Salvation belongs to our God who sits upon the throne, and to the Lamb!”

And all the angels stood round the throne and round the elders and the four living creatures, and they fell on their faces before the throne and worshiped God, saying,

“Amen! Blessing and glory and wisdom and thanksgiving and honor and power and might be to our God for ever and ever! Amen.”

PRAYER FOR RESTORATION DURING STRUGGLE

O merciful Lord,

Everything has changed so fast. Bad news comes like a river. How can I cope? How can I comprehend?

I cry out to you, my Lord, my God. Today I reach out and up again as I have so many times before. You alone are my refuge. You alone are my hope.

I come to you. You give me rest. Restore this tired child of yours.

Pour out your loving Spirit over me. I need the tenderness of Jesus.

And then… I will rise with Christ.

The Lord makes me nimble & quick. He provides me clarity and strength. And even in the face of calamity, I am sure. I am steady.

I am a child of God.

Nothing can take that away from me. No pestilence or danger will destroy me.

My identity indestructible, for the Lord’s promises are eternal.

God’s word is the final word.

I pray for this in Jesus’ name,

Amen.

Prayer to be steady during panic (coronavirus)

What’s the difference between prudence, worry, and panic? Will protecting your family make it harder for others to protect theirs? How do you deal with the constant avalanche of bad news?

There are no easy answers these days. Nobody is exactly sure what to do. Some are negligent and others go way overboard. In times like these, your faith becomes more important than ever.

Instead of imaging the worst case scenario, remember, people have survived much worse. Sometimes, the panic and fear are greater than any real danger.

Today, the followers of Christ must be his representatives more than ever. Get strength from prayer and God’s word. Stay connected and supportive with each other. Bring calm and hope to any encounter. Be aware, intelligently informed, and strong. Pray hard. The times call for this more than ever. And keep sharing the Good News as souls depend on it for salvation.

A clear, solid, faith-based response to any crisis is the best thing you can do for yourself, your loved ones, and your community.

Do you really believe in Jesus Christ? Then it’s time to show it now. You can do it!

PRAYER TO BE STEADY DURING PANIC

O blessed Lord,

The world is so complex. Danger and confusion appear everywhere. I feel afraid sometimes.

How can I stay steady, O Lord? Will you help me?

Remind me again that you alone are sovereign. Help me to accept the limits of my existence.

Show me again that despite my smallness, you revealed yourself to me.

You chose to love me. Christ bled and died for me.

Reveal to my soul the truth of the resurrection. Eternal life is God’s promise for all those who believe.

From the wounds of Christ may I find peace, for he has overcome the world.

The Lord is my strength & security. In him I have great hope. With Jesus I am not afraid.

In the name of Jesus,

Amen.

Prayer for help during chaotic times

It seems like there’s so much to worry about sometimes, doesn’t it?

Maybe you’re facing a bunch of different trials right now. Or maybe you’re dealing with one big complex crisis. Then suddenly–something else comes up–then maybe another thing on top of that. The next thing you know you are in the middle of total chaos, and nothing seems to make sense at all.

One important thing to remember is that you can only process so many things at a time. So prioritize and focus on one task. If you have no idea which issue is most important, just tackle them one at a time, then move on.

In many cases, you’ll have to accept imperfect, incomplete, or even risky situations during chaos. But be brave and accept your limitations. Don’t get paralyzed.  Stay focused. Advance on one problem at a time.

In chaotic times, it’s especially hard to stop and pray. But it’s super important to never give up on this. Your time with God will give you strength, peace, and clarity to make better decisions. He might even reveal answers to make things easier for you.

The most important benefit though is that by taking the time to commune with God, your trust in him grows. And your life will show the fruits of that trust.

PRAYER FOR HELP DURING CHAOTIC TIMES

O merciful Lord,

Everything seems to be whirling around me. So many things in movement, I can’t get my bearings. And worry eats away at me.

Where are you O Lord?

Let me stop now. Breathe.

May your Spirit bring me calm. Stop my mind from racing. Cast out the enemy far from me, in the name of Jesus Christ, my King.

May I rest knowing I cannot control everything. You alone are sovereign over all things.

I place my trust in you, O Lord.

Help me set priorities, based on wisdom, mercy & love. And no matter what may come, keep me sharp and steady.

I know who my Savior is. I know he will come again. That’s all I need to keep going.

Grant me your heavenly grace.

For you alone are holy. You alone are the Lord.

In Jesus name,

Amen.

Prayer to to open up more to God

Is it time for you to reflect on your earthly limitations and the gift of Jesus in your life? Maybe you can devote time to seeking reconciliation and ways to improve your life according to God’s word.

You might try to give up bad habits, attitudes or even addictions. If you feel called to this, face it with courage and humility. Ask for God’s help every day.

Or you might choose to add something to your life, such as offering words of kindness and encouragement to others. You may even begin to dedicate time to serving those in need.

Whatever your choice, set your mind and heart to open up more to God. Let him in, and let his Spirit work in you.

Prayer for an important conversation

Do you have to talk to someone soon about something important? If so, make sure you go into the conversation prepared.

Talk to God about the situation first. Let him show you where you might be mistaken in your thoughts or attitude. Also, let his Spirit strengthen you in places where you need to stand firm.

Even when you have to place a limit or stand up for yourself, it should be in a spirit of service and love. Seek the Lord to show you how this can be done. Ask him to reveal his ways to you.

PRAYER FOR AN IMPORTANT CONVERSATION

O merciful Lord,

I know I have to face it. I know we must talk, but first, O Lord, prepare me.

Set me free, heal me. Bring me to the place where I am at peace with myself and with my God.

Cast out, O Lord, any anger, fear or resentment. Free me of any temptation to control or manipulate.

Fill me with the desire to only seek your holy will.

Make my convictions firm, O Lord, without self-interest, without needing to prove a point.

Instead, may my words be saturated with the grace of Almighty God.

Help me to genuinely listen and to humbly serve, as my Lord Jesus served.

Send us your Holy Spirit, O Lord. Prepare our hearts and  minds.

I place all my trust in you.

In Jesus name I pray,

Amen.

Prayer in times of doubt

Wouldn’t it be great to be 100% sure of all your decisions? Well, maybe not. You see, our doubts, fears and needs lead us to seek God. So when you doubt, it can be a good thing since it means you need God to help you to be sure.

When you are doubting, return to the things you can be sure about then move forward from there. A stable spiritual life makes decision making and discernment easier. The hard decisions will always be hard. But when you know, without a doubt, that God loves you, then your perspective changes. Big scary problems shrink, and the clouds of uncertainty begin to float away.

Don’t get obsessed with getting a concrete answer from God. Instead, focus on asking to understand his will and how he wants you to grow as a person.

Pray for God’s answers. Seek his will. Search in his Word for guidance. But remember, beyond your current situation, he has already given you the most important answer of all. Jesus.

PRAYER IN TIMES OF DOUBT

O blessed Lord,

Sometimes I’m not sure If the decisions I make are right. I doubt and worry.

Show me, O Lord, the way. Let me understand that it’s okay to be unsure, that it’s normal and human.

Reveal to me again where I can be certain. Show me the place where my doubts disappear.

In the Resurrection may I find truth and security. In knowing God exists and knowing he loves me.

Make my trust in you unshakable.

Even though it may be hard, and my decisions might be wrong, let my heart and soul know you will never leave me.

May I seek you in prayer to receive the answers you want me to hear.

May I find peace in the answers Christ gives me in his wounds.

In Jesus name I pray,

Prayer to be perseverant

Feeling low on energy and hope? Are you in a struggle or hoping for something hugely important? Nobody can control the world, but if you see things from a spiritual perspective, it enables you to stay solid in the tough times.

God hears your prayer and sees your struggle. He might also be taking advantage of the situation to form your character (patience, dedication, loyalty, faithfulness, etc.). Trust and be aware of this process. Stay faithful to the fight and to God. Plus, let him do the heavy lifting. Appeal to his goodness and mercy when you pray to him.

Above all, trust in God and his promises. Accept his will, and you will discover wonderful mysteries along the way. No, it won’t be easy, and it might not turn out the way you expect. But if you give it up to God, it will be heavenly.

Getting tired of the same old routine? Feeling like nothing inspires you anymore? Believe it or not, this feeling might be a good thing. Why? It might be God’s way of telling you it’s time for a change.

Maybe you need to begin a new activity. Why not join a group, take up a new service or volunteer work, or finish that project you’ve had on your mind? Make the time and take the plunge. You can do it if you try!

Remember though, God’s project is you. It’s your relationship with Jesus. So as you move forward in the new, let the Lord breathe fresh life into your spiritual walk. Build all things upon your walk with the Lord, and let his grace shine in your life.

He told them this parable: “No one tears a piece out of a new garment to patch an old one. Otherwise, they will have torn the new garment, and the patch from the new will not match the old. And no one pours new wine into old wineskins. Otherwise, the new wine will burst the skins; the wine will run out and the wineskins will be ruined. No, new wine must be poured into new wineskins.

PRAYER FOR RENEWAL

O merciful Lord,

I’ve been feeling a bit empty and far from you. I’m weary from the struggle.

Renew me, O Lord, help me.

May I be the new wine in new wineskins.

May I be the fresh page upon which you write.

I seek a more spacious place in my walk with you.

Break down the old in me, the hardness, and build up the new in you.

Bring me to a deeper place of rest, where your power and Spirit make room so I can breathe.

Show me how it happens when I surrender myself to you.

May I rejoice with a strong heart. Give me a clear voice to speak God’s love to all.

I’m not there yet, O Lord, but I want to go.

Take me there with you. Renew me. Set me free.

Amen.
