A prayer for when you feel defeated

The feeling of defeat can be devastating. Why? Because it usually means that you put in a lot of effort, and things didn’t turn out how you expected. Or, circumstances out of your control led to a poor outcome.

As much as it hurts, moments of defeat are huge opportunities. Of course you wanted a better result, but that doesn’t mean everything is a disaster. Can you learn from the process? Will your ability to keep going grow stronger?

The enemy wants you to think that there’s no exit. But remember, your defeat does not define who you are.

The resurrection of Christ shows us that even in the darkest moments, new life can appear. It won’t be the same as before, but if we trust the Lord, it can be even better. Jesus won the victory for you. Believe this and know you are a child of God. Let his Spirit restore you. He will never let you go.

PRAYER FOR WHEN YOU FEEL DEFEATED

O blessed Lord,

I’m down and out; on the floor, beaten. Will I ever get up again?

Do you see me, O Lord?

I give up all my failure and my shame to you. May my wounds be cleansed by the blood of Christ. He alone sets me free.

Let me hear, once again your comforting voice. Soothe my anguish with your loving mercy.

I do not seek an easy way out. Let it be real and lasting, O Lord. Guide me to repent if needed. Restore my soul and let me know that I am much more than the present moment.

In Christ, I can rise again. You make me strong & steady. I lift my head ready to face a new day with confidence.

In my defeat I find victory as it brings me closer to you.

In Jesus name,

Amen.

Prayer to restore your motivation

Crisis, conflict, and lockdowns can crush your motivation. Even though things might be tougher than ever, you don’t have to let it get the best of you.

Instead of feeling trapped with no hope, look deep inside. God’s Spirit gives us an unlimited source of inspiration. Not even the death of God’s Son could stop it. Nothing can stop the love of God. Instead, Christ rises up, again and again, victorious in glory.

So lift your head. Dig in and dig yourself out of the apathy or negativity. Ask God to help you. He will give you all the strength and courage you need.

and recovery of sight for the blind,
to set the oppressed free,
to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.”

PRAYER TO RESTORE YOUR MOTIVATION

O merciful Lord,

the world suffers and people live in fear or rage. And the enemy tries to make me lose all hope. Won’t you help me, O Lord?

Show me the clear way of Christ. He came to free the spirit and return hope to the fallen. Reveal to me again, O Lord, how even the smallest task can be made holy.

In the name of Jesus, cast out the liar that says all is lost. Let me hear the voice of the one true God who tells me,

“Beloved, have courage. Live life fully, in any situation for my Spirit goes with you. See Jesus on the cross for you. See how he loves. Go now and love. There is no greater purpose and nothing can stop my mission of love.”

Press your Word into me, O Lord, make it real. Give me fresh wings to glorify your holy name.

In Jesus name,

Amen

Prayer for clarity in the chaos

Many are tempted to find rest in finger pointing, political gain or controlling others… or generating fear. But there is a much more excellent way. Jesus and his word are the voice of clarity, no matter what the situation. His wisdom cuts through the chatter.

The sons and daughters of God will seek truth from one place alone: in Jesus Christ. He is our way, our truth and our life.

PRAYER FOR CLARITY IN THE CHAOS

O blessed Lord,

So many voices, so much noise. Where is truth, O Lord? Show me your will and your way. Bring me close to you.

Cast out the lies of the enemy far from me, O Lord. Free me of my fears. Give me clarity in the chaos, for you are my Lord, my God.

Even when the world struggles and spins out of control, the Lord is eternal, and Christ is life.

Free me of the desire to build upon the empty words of man. Give me wisdom and calm especially here, especially now.

May I build upon your truth. Jesus came. He died for me. He rose from the dead.

Christ comes again.

Your grace removes hesitation. Fear & confusion evaporate, and your peace sets me free.

In Jesus name,

Amen.

The world is undergoing big changes now. Many people are searching for answers. We already have the most important answer of all. Jesus Christ shows us how to respond to our current situation and any other challenge.

PRAYER FOR FAITH IN THE RESURRECTION

O loving Lord,

I’ve heard the story so many times. How a kiss betrayed you and how your friend denied you. And I know sometimes that I did the same.

So tragic. So sad. But still…

You let them whip you, crown you, until you could take no more. You let that cross dig into your back. You spread out your arms while the nails drove deep, and your blood soaked the earth.

All for me. O Lord,

Let me not look away this time. Let me not deny you or turn back. And when it gets dark and scary, I will cling to you. I will hold tight. I know you will never leave me.

You promise me paradise.

In your wounds I find peace. There I place all my hope – in your wounded side, in your pierced hands & feet. in the risen Lord, full of grace and glory.

In Jesus name,

Amen.

Prayer for when you need a break

Sometimes, we need to take a break. This doesn’t mean we abandon our responsibilities. Instead, it’s a way to maintain a fresh perspective about life, even during troubled times.

Dedicate some quality time to our heavenly Father. It’s truly amazing how he can restore you and lift your mood. His Spirit puts everything in perspective. The Lord lets us escape from the mental prison of fear that traps us sometimes.

You will understand if you do it. Find the right time and place. Go back to him. Sit and listen to the Spirit of God. Let him re-energize you. Then arise again with Christ to face the world with courage and confidence.

PRAYER FOR WHEN YOU NEED A BREAK

O blessed Lord,

I just need a break now, a rest from all the noise. So here I am, O Lord. I seek your presence.

I don’t plan to be irresponsible. I won’t crumble. I’m in it for the long haul as I am your child. Confident. Secure with you.

But now, just for a moment, I need to forget the trouble. Let me float for a while in the quiet stream of your grace.

Take me back to that place where you showed me what it means to know God loves me. Deep joy. Sweet mercy.

Show me how to live there now knowing my soul is safe, knowing God is real, and knowing Jesus sets me free.

Let the rest of the world fret & worry. but as for me, I will trust in the Lord.

In Jesus name,

Amen.

Prayer of praise to God during trials

Sometimes the last thing on our minds is exactly what we should be doing. As the entire world is worried about the current crisis, we should remain informed and responsible. Still, world events shouldn’t consume our lives. Our focus should always be on God.

There are many episodes in the Bible where God’s people lifted up their voices to praise him. This happened mostly during two situations: danger and celebration.

God’s word shows us clearly that in times of crisis, we should praise him. Why? It shows how much we depend on him and trust him… especially during tough times.

The world is crying out for answers. The Body of Christ–from all Christian denominations–should be crying out to God in praise.

So let’s praise him during the danger, and then again in the celebration… which is Christ our Lord.

After this I looked, and behold, a great multitude which no man could number, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and tongues, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, with palm branches in their hands, and crying out with a loud voice,

“Salvation belongs to our God who sits upon the throne, and to the Lamb!”

And all the angels stood round the throne and round the elders and the four living creatures, and they fell on their faces before the throne and worshiped God, saying,

“Amen! Blessing and glory and wisdom and thanksgiving and honor and power and might be to our God for ever and ever! Amen.”

PRAYER FOR RESTORATION DURING STRUGGLE

O merciful Lord,

Everything has changed so fast. Bad news comes like a river. How can I cope? How can I comprehend?

I cry out to you, my Lord, my God. Today I reach out and up again as I have so many times before. You alone are my refuge. You alone are my hope.

I come to you. You give me rest. Restore this tired child of yours.

Pour out your loving Spirit over me. I need the tenderness of Jesus.

And then… I will rise with Christ.

The Lord makes me nimble & quick. He provides me clarity and strength. And even in the face of calamity, I am sure. I am steady.

I am a child of God.

Nothing can take that away from me. No pestilence or danger will destroy me.

My identity indestructible, for the Lord’s promises are eternal.

God’s word is the final word.

I pray for this in Jesus’ name,

Amen.

Just a reminder…

Just a reminder going into the weekend. Find rest in the Lord.

These are the times reflection on today

You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.

Matthew 5:14-16

THESE ARE THE TIMES

These are the times when the Body of Christ must rise up…

to remain solid, to intercede before the throne of God, and to give & love more.

Be the glue that holds things together. Be a source of stability, hope, and joy… even humor.

Do not let the enemy create any resentment in your heart–not towards any person or any nation.

These are the times when the disciples of Christ must represent him more than ever.

Live and love courageously!
