Prayer for clarity of the mind

Where does cluttered thinking come from? You might be overwhelmed with tasks, or maybe you lack organization. Or perhaps you’re facing a serious life challenge.

Time spent in prayer is the key to clear thinking. It might seem like you don’t have time to pray. You might not feel like praying either. But when you communicate with God, he shows you how to set your priorities.

First, the Lord puts your soul in line with his spiritual truths. From that place of peace, you can understand things better. When you see things from a heavenly perspective, you can focus on what really matters.

In prayer, the Lord reveals to you where you might be missing things. When you spend time in his presence, you live more according to God’s will. That is where you will find the greatest clarity.

Blessed is the one
whose transgressions are forgiven,
whose sins are covered.
Blessed is the one
whose sin the Lord does not count against them
and in whose spirit is no deceit.

You are my hiding place;
you will protect me from trouble
and surround me with songs of deliverance.

I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go;
I will counsel you with my loving eye on you.

PRAYER FOR CLARITY OF THE MIND

O merciful Lord,

So much clutter fills my mind. I’m unfocused & distracted. Help me, O Lord. In your grace I seek clarity.

Show me again, O Lord, the essence of my faith. Reveal to my heart once more how Christ sets me free.

May your mercy sink in deep and saturate my soul. And when I doubt or hesitate may Jesus, crucified, appear to me again.

Let the mystery of you giving your Son for me cast away my doubts and fears. I am purified and cleansed. This broken & weary soul finally finds sweet rest.

And from my place of humility, I stand firm upon your strength. You make all things new. Your grace shines over my life, and a new dawn arrives.

I see clearly now. I am loved. I am free.

In Jesus name,

Amen.

Prayer to go all in for the Lord

What makes us afraid to give ourselves up to God? Maybe you have been hurt. Or perhaps you want to maintain control.  What does it even mean, to give yourself up to God? It means seeking him and trusting him. It means dedication to a relationship.

Some of us get all pumped up to serve God, but it’s not meant to be something spectacular. Instead, it’s listening to what he wants for you. It’s obeying God’s Word and living the plans he has prepared for you — and nothing can be more wonderful.

When we go all in for God, he frees us of the things that we don’t need anymore. He frees us of our fear and insecurity. Then we can genuinely love and serve others. That’s the beauty of God’s love… it keeps growing and going forward.

Then Jesus said to them, “Give back to Caesar what is Caesar’s and to God what is God’s.”

Mark 12:17a

Jesus sat down opposite the place where the offerings were put and watched the crowd putting their money into the temple treasury. Many rich people threw in large amounts. But a poor widow came and put in two very small copper coins, worth only a few cents.

Calling his disciples to him, Jesus said, “Truly I tell you, this poor widow has put more into the treasury than all the others. They all gave out of their wealth; but she, out of her poverty, put in everything—all she had to live on.”

PRAYER TO GO ALL IN FOR THE LORD

O blessed Lord,

I come before you as I want to make a change. I don’t want to hold back anymore, O Lord.

Free me from the things that tie me down. Bring down the walls that keep me away from you.

In God there is pure good. Let me give myself up to you finally, once and for all.

Nothing held back, nothing hidden, only truth and freedom as my soul rejoices in the saving grace of Christ.

Let me step into a place of confidence and rest. I know I am accepted. I am forgiven and loved. I am your beloved child, free at last in the Lord.

Then with passion I will proclaim the Good News.

Christ has died. Christ has risen. Christ will come again!

In Jesus name,

Amen.

Prayer for the prayer warrior

What does it mean to be a prayer warrior? It’s not about heroics, and it’s not about showing off either. A prayer warrior is someone who has been broken and restored to health by God.

Jesus was the greatest prayer warrior of all time. We must follow his example and emphasis of prayer. We might have a different focus from time to time, but the essence of how Christ prayed should be the same. His priority was always about relationships–with his Father, with his disciples, and with his followers now.

Remember, spiritual combat is much more than just praying forcefully against evil. It’s also about your life testimony–in public and in private. The Spirit wins victories in every area of your life. Trust in this process and fight the good fight.

PRAYER FOR THE PRAYER WARRIOR

O heavenly Lord,

Here I am in your presence. I am your faithful servant. You saved my life & soul forever with your love.

I invoke your Holy Spirit, O Lord. In the name of my Savior Jesus, I call out to the Father. Rise up, O Lord! Rise up!

Give me strength & clarity in Christ. May the blood of the Lamb protect me, my family and my community. Send your mighty Spirit to drive the enemy far into the abyss.

Unify your Church, O Lord. One Body. One Blood. One Spirit. Reach out to us, transform us. May we testify to Christ resurrected from whom all good things come.

Pour out your abundant grace to go forward to renew & save. Heal the wounded. Free the slaves. Let them taste of your goodness. May many come and kneel at the throne of the Son of God to give him glory, honor & praise.

All according to your holy will,

In Jesus name,

Amen.

Prayer for spiritual abundance

Are you feeling like you can’t move forward? Does it seem like your life is stuck? Sometimes the limits you experience happen due to unresolved issues in your interior life.

In many cases, we put the limits on ourselves. We might be afraid to open up and look inside. But if you take a leap of faith and trust God, his generosity will pour out over you.

Spend some time alone with God. Don’t put it off anymore. Make it a priority, and don’t be in a hurry. Let him reveal the things your soul needs to be healthy and free. Then live joyfully in his abundant grace.

PRAYER FOR SPIRITUAL ABUNDANCE

O blessed Lord,

I’m tired of being stuck in the same place. I feel trapped & confined. Will you help me, O Lord? I seek your newness, here, now.

Pour out your Spirit over me, bring me calm and peace, quiet my insecurity and fear. I open myself up to you.

Take me, O Lord, to a spacious place. Where I don’t have to perform or pretend. Bring me, O Lord, close to you. Set me free.

Enter my heart here and now. When your Spirit comes to me there is no more fear. The limits of my sin and shame are removed by your mercy.

I am free to breathe and grow. I am free to love and be loved again, as I know and receive the abundant love of Christ.

Grant me your overflowing grace, O loving Lord. Always lead me back to you.

In Jesus name,

Amen.

Prayer to God to fill in the gaps

Are you facing a challenge, and you feel like you don’t measure up to the task? Or maybe you face complex family issues. You try your best, but there’s so much beyond your reach. You might even feel like a failure.

Falling short is a universal human experience. Nobody can do it all. And sometimes, even when we try our best, we make a mess.

If we ask for God’s help, two incredible things happen. First, he begins to work on the situation. His solutions and timing might not be exactly what we had in mind, but with time, we understand his ways. Second, he works on us to trust him more. We learn to work with him, guided by the Spirit. And we learn to be more humble since we see how much we depend on God.

So in life’s struggles, let God fill in the gaps, both near and far. Instead of seeking specific results or perfection, seek the presence of the Lord. Be not afraid… trust and believe!

PRAYER FOR GOD TO FILL IN THE GAPS

O heavenly Lord,

I can’t seem to get to it all. I’m falling short on time & focus. And sometimes I fall to the floor broken into pieces.

I ask you to complete me, O Lord. Take my limits, my mistakes, even my shame. Place it all in the wounded side of Jesus.

In his body, I am nourished. By his blood, I have peace.

Send your Spirit to where I can’t reach. May your grace and mercy work where I can’t work. Especially in those places inside me where I desperately need your healing love, where I can’t do it myself.

So I’ll lean on you my Lord. I open myself up to you to fill in those empty places that cry out for your grace. And you will hold me together. You will be my strength.

May I continue forward fully trusting in my Lord.

In Jesus name,

Amen.

Prayer of praise and worship

Is your prayer life narrow or wide open? Sometimes the way we pray reveals our spiritual focus. If you are always just asking for things, you’re missing a big part of your relationship with God.

Think about it. When you interact with a person, and all you do is ask for favors, then the dialog is limited. This means you don’t fully know the other person. The same thing happens in your relationship with the Lord. It’s important to explore and develop different ways of communication. Praise and worship are essential to this process.

So tell God how great he is. Tell him how much you love him and thank him. Let him know how much you value your faith and the work Jesus did for you on the cross. Show in adoration how much you depend on God. Open your heart up to his Spirit, and watch your heart grow. This is the way to greater courage and lasting love.

PRAYER OF PRAISE AND WORSHIP

O blessed Lord,

I seek your presence now. I invoke your Spirit to guide me to open myself up to you in my praise and worship.

When I was lost and wounded, you found me. You healed me. You forgave me and restored me. So many times you have held me in your hand. You work wonders in my soul.

Holy is your name, O Lord. You are love and all glory is yours. You are faith and hope to me. Nowhere else can I find your promise of eternal life. Nowhere else can I open myself without fear and without shame.

You know me, inside and out. I give it all up to you, O Lord. You cleanse me. You purify me. You make me whole.

O loving Lord, your sweet mercy brings great joy to this weary soul. I praise you. I adore you. You are my Lord, my God.

In Jesus name, I pray,

Prayer to stay steady & solid

We’re all finding it difficult to stay steady these days. There’s just too much to worry about it seems, right? Well it might be time to dial down your focus. It’s not that you don’t care, but you can’t fix all the problems of this world.

Refocus on what you can change. Place your attention where it’s needed most. Your family, work, church, and friendships. Don’t withdraw from and neglect these spaces. If you’re feeling hopeless and helpless, know that in these core areas you can make a huge impact.

If you’re confused and seeking truth, go back to the Gospel. Nourish yourself with the truth that speaks to your heart. Jesus died for you. He forgives you and loves you. He rose from the dead. Christ will come again. Believe. Trust. Be solid and move forward.

You can do it! God will help you!

PRAYER TO STAY STEADY AND SOLID

O merciful Lord,

Life was already hard enough and now there’s much more trouble. The world is in such turmoil. What can I do, O Lord? Where can I go?

Rise up, O Lord, rise up! In the name of Jesus Christ strike down the evil one with your mighty hand. Free me from my worry & fear.

Show me again, O Lord, as you have so many times, that your Spirit guides me to face even the toughest trial. Give me courage & clarity. May my faith and hope shine even more intensely as Jesus Christ is forever my King.

Every moment, every task lived in faith is a victory. Keep me steady, keep me sharp. By your Spirit I remain solid. Upon your Word, I stand firm. I will not be moved from the Rock that is Jesus Christ my Lord.

In Jesus name I pray,

Amen.

Prayer to give thanks to the Lord (even in hard times)

In good times and bad, we can be thankful. This might be the secret to happiness. If you remain thankful to God — even when times are tough — it gives you a healthy perspective. Thankfulness frees you of a lot of negativity that can cloud your thinking.

Even in the worst situations, the grace of God can reveal to you reasons to be thankful. Seek the Lord and you will find purpose and meaning to any circumstance. And you will find the strength to persevere.

If you have been blessed with abundance, share the blessing with others. Spread forward the generosity God has given you. May your kindness help build the Kingdom of Heaven.

PRAYER TO GIVE THANKS TO THE LORD

O blessed Lord,

You revealed to my heart your teachings. You give me strength I never knew I had. You lifted up this broken child and put me on my feet.

Your peace pours out over me from the sacred wounds of Christ. And when the enemy rises up, you cast him out far from me.

For all this and more I thank you, O loving Lord. Your abundant grace & mercy fill my heart with joy. You are so good to me.

In the Lord Jesus Christ I find the deepest meaning. I know that I am loved. And with your Spirit alive in me I can love others more & more.

This world may be in turmoil, but I know for sure who I am. I am your child, forever free, in the grace of God I am home.

Thank you blessed Lord, for my life and for your love.

In Jesus name,

Prayer to find refuge in the Lord

It seems like nothing is safe and secure anymore. Still, if you stop and think about it, there was never any earthly guarantee of total security. Life has always been unpredictable, and it always will be.

Yes, we should be responsible. We should care for ourselves and others–but our control over things is limited.

Instead of worrying about things out of your control, have hope in something truly eternal. God’s love is forever. The promises of Jesus are real. Build your confidence and security on the Rock that is Christ. Then go live and love with courage as a beloved child of God.

PRAYER TO FIND REFUGE IN THE LORD

O loving Lord,

It’s not easy for me these days. Where can I find truth? Where can I be safe?

In the storm you call out to me. You tell me Lord, I am yours. You are mine. In your love and mercy I find the safest place.

My life may be full of trials, but in Christ I stand firm. In this world there may be trouble, but you save my soul forever. No matter what may come my hope rests on the heavenly promises of God.

For you are the Lord that drives out sin and despair. You lifted me up and told me, “You are my child. Be not afraid!”

You give me life eternal. You set me free forever.

I put my full trust in you, O Lord. Protect me. Guide me. May your Spirit go forward to prepare the way. The way of Jesus Christ, my King.

Prayer for a divided family

Is your family facing division? It could be due to internal conflicts or outside influences. Either way, few things are more painful than family strife.

Things may look bleak right now, and it might seem impossible… but don’t give up hope! Stay faithful in prayer and service to your family. Maybe they might not let you get close, but serve them best from where you can.

Also, ask God what you might need to change or give up to close the gap. Remember, you don’t have to compromise your values to have a dialog… or to love more.

Trust that the Spirit of God is working in everyone during these trials. Stay hopeful and stay faithful, no matter how long it takes. Let Jesus be your comfort and guide. Cry out to him!

PRAYER FOR A DIVIDED FAMILY

O loving Lord,

Do you see my family? Can you see my hurt? How long, O Lord, will it last? When will we be united again?

I don’t know why it has to be this way, but it is. Help my heart to understand. Give me comfort even though I see my family torn apart.

I seek rest in your Spirit. May I remain faithful to Christ by staying faithful to my family. Show us how to heal and forgive.

Help me to keep my convictions but also love truly. Jesus shows how it’s done on the cross. Christ resurrected reveals to me God’s power for those who wait.

I will not lose hope. I will stay faithful and true. I reject the lies of the enemy. May your mighty Spirit work in us.

Have mercy, bring us together in the love of Christ, O Lord.

In his holy name,

Amen.
