Is your prayer life narrow or wide open? Sometimes the way we pray reveals our spiritual focus. If you are always just asking for things, you’re missing a big part of your relationship with God.
Think about it. When you interact with a person, and all you do is ask for favors, then the dialog is limited. This means you don’t fully know the other person. The same thing happens in your relationship with the Lord. It’s important to explore and develop different ways of communication. Praise and worship are essential to this process.
So tell God how great he is. Tell him how much you love him and thank him. Let him know how much you value your faith and the work Jesus did for you on the cross. Show in adoration how much you depend on God. Open your heart up to his Spirit, and watch your heart grow. This is the way to greater courage and lasting love.
Audio message and prayer from Vincent:
. . .
Come, let us sing for joy to the Lord;
let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation.
Let us come before him with thanksgiving
and extol him with music and song.For the Lord is the great God,
the great King above all gods.
n his hand are the depths of the earth,
and the mountain peaks belong to him.
The sea is his, for he made it,
and his hands formed the dry land.Come, let us bow down in worship,
let us kneel before the Lord our Maker;
for he is our God
and we are the people of his pasture,
the flock under his care.Psalm 95:1-7
PRAYER OF PRAISE AND WORSHIP
O blessed Lord,
I seek your presence now. I invoke your Spirit to guide me to open myself up to you in my praise and worship.
When I was lost and wounded, you found me. You healed me. You forgave me and restored me. So many times you have held me in your hand. You work wonders in my soul.
Holy is your name, O Lord. You are love and all glory is yours. You are faith and hope to me. Nowhere else can I find your promise of eternal life. Nowhere else can I open myself without fear and without shame.
You know me, inside and out. I give it all up to you, O Lord. You cleanse me. You purify me. You make me whole.
O loving Lord, your sweet mercy brings great joy to this weary soul. I praise you. I adore you. You are my Lord, my God.
In Jesus name, I pray,
Amen.
