What makes us afraid to give ourselves up to God? Maybe you have been hurt. Or perhaps you want to maintain control.  What does it even mean, to give yourself up to God? It means seeking him and trusting him. It means dedication to a relationship.

Some of us get all pumped up to serve God, but it’s not meant to be something spectacular. Instead, it’s listening to what he wants for you. It’s obeying God’s Word and living the plans he has prepared for you — and nothing can be more wonderful.

When we go all in for God, he frees us of the things that we don’t need anymore. He frees us of our fear and insecurity. Then we can genuinely love and serve others. That’s the beauty of God’s love… it keeps growing and going forward.

Jesus sat down opposite the place where the offerings were put and watched the crowd putting their money into the temple treasury. Many rich people threw in large amounts. But a poor widow came and put in two very small copper coins, worth only a few cents.

Calling his disciples to him, Jesus said, “Truly I tell you, this poor widow has put more into the treasury than all the others. They all gave out of their wealth; but she, out of her poverty, put in everything—all she had to live on.”

PRAYER TO GO ALL IN FOR THE LORD

O blessed Lord,

I come before you as I want to make a change. I don’t want to hold back anymore, O Lord.

Free me from the things that tie me down. Bring down the walls that keep me away from you.

In God there is pure good. Let me give myself up to you finally, once and for all.

Nothing held back, nothing hidden, only truth and freedom as my soul rejoices in the saving grace of Christ.

Let me step into a place of confidence and rest. I know I am accepted. I am forgiven and loved. I am your beloved child, free at last in the Lord.

Then with passion I will proclaim the Good News.

Christ has died. Christ has risen. Christ will come again!
