Prayer for new coping skills

Our troubled times call for us to grow. We are called to grow as individuals, and as groups, to meet the challenges of the day.

Maybe you realize you need to listen more. Or maybe you need to communicate more clearly. Some of us need to learn to cooperate, while others need more confidence in working independently. Or perhaps you need to be more organized. Finally, maybe you need to learn to express your feelings with those close to you.

In what skills do you need to improve?

While coping skills are important, remember where it all starts. If you begin with a solid relationship with God, then he will give you what you need. He will guide and teach you. He will show you the way to serve him, your family, and your community.

So let the Lord show you how. Let him equip you to face the world and to be a living blessing.

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!

2 Corinthians 5:17

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

Philippians 4:13

You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.

Ephesians 4:22-24

PRAYER FOR NEW COPING SKILLS

O blessed Lord,

I’m nearing my wits end. It’s so hard sometimes to cope with this troubled world. The burden gets heavy.

May I find rest in you, O Lord. Let my soul be at peace knowing who I am & who saves me. I am a child of God. Nothing and no one can take my identity away from me.

From that place of strength I ask you, O Lord, to teach me. Show me new ways and give me new skills to get through each day. It all depends on you.

Renew my mind, heart & spirit. May I go forth with fresh confidence, as your grace reveals to me, in Christ, I have all l need.

Bring your truth home to me. May it burn in my heart, O loving Lord. May the resurrection show me: I can do this. I am God’s child.

In Christ, all things are possible.

In Jesus name I pray,

Amen.

  1. Thank you all so very much for taking the time to offer your prayers. I have told several people about this website. I am grateful I found it. I will return to these prayers to remind myself that I cannot do this alone. Thank you again.

  2. I am suffering from obsessive compulsive disorder and anxiety. Every morning I wake up with a feeling of anxiety for what the day will bring. I have so many fears and have a hard time with the most basic tasks. I had some issues in the past, but it has been worse the past few months. I need relief from this. I can’t do this on my own. Thank you for this site.

    • Dear Amy,

How hard it must be for you dealing with OCD and anxiety. As you wrote, these problems can be very debilitating. I’m sure you are getting help from someone to deal with these issues (if not, please get help). I know what you mean about being anxious in the morning. Sometimes you just don’t even want to get out of bed to face the day. I don’t suffer from severe anxiety, but I do have moments when the sensation is very intense in the mornings, very difficult.

When this happens, I sit up and return to some of the most basic aspects of my faith. I pray to God saying,

“I trust in your life, O Lord. I believe in your death on the cross. I believe in the resurrection. I am your child. Jesus, I trust in you.”

And with that simple affirmation of faith, things begin to change for me. When I invoke the name of Jesus, my mood improves and I can face the day.

I don’t know if this will help you, but you can try it. Either way, seek to understand what it means to rest in God. Pray to him and let him show you what this means.

I am and will be praying for you. God’s grace and blessings to you!
      Vincent

    • Oh Amy I am so sorry you are facing this every morning, my heart feels the pain you are going through. You are so right, none of can overcome our struggles on our own.
Jesus told us He came to give us life, and to give it more abundantly (John 10:10). As we invite Him into our heart, get to know Him intimately, learn to walk in His ways, and hear His voice guiding us—our trust and faith in Him grows. Then we can find rest knowing we belong to Him and that He is always with us, and never will leave us! (Deuteronomy 31:6)
It sounds simple, but it is true; Jesus is enough and life with Him will change your life.
Have you tried reading the Bible before you go to sleep at night? Psalms are especially calming. Thinking on His Word and memorizing scriptures will give you something to counter the anxiety and fear. Don’t give up, even if you don’t feel any differently right away. There is power and strength for you in God’s Word.
I am so glad you stopped by Amy. I will will keep you in my prayers.❤️

Lord I pray that You would fill Amy with Your perfect peace. We know that fear does not come from You Lord, for You have not given us a spirit of fear but of power, love and a sound mind (Timothy 1:7). Where there are muddled, negative and anxious thoughts, give her mind clarity and calmness. Strengthen her, comfort her heart Lord, help her to feel Your loving presence. Bring wholeness and healing to her in the name of Jesus.
Help her to trust in You, in all things Lord. Bring people into her life that can be a blessing to her and help. Thank you for hearing and answering our prayers. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.

    • Amy, fear is a crippling feeling especially when it is irrational. It takes over our minds and thoughts and controls how we react in situations. I been there and know how it feels. I can also tell you that you can get free and change how you feel and view things. God promises to transform our minds and he can and does. Lies built up over the years that we hold on to can be torn down. If it can happen for me it can happen to you. Share those fears. Ffind a good friend or family member, it if you prefer seek help from a church or pastoral person to share things with. The more you able to let go and share the less it holds you.

Lord I pray you loving touch mercy and love be felt by Amy. Touch and flow through her. Break down the Bonds of fear and all the negative thoughts and lies in her head and replace with the truth of your way and your total acceptance. I pray in your mighty name that transformation comes in her mind and life. Provide the people and resources and speak to her through your word, the mightiest weapon we have against fear. Thank you lord amen
