The real message

Dear friends,

I’m was trying to come up with a prayer & audio for the holiday season, but it’s not coming out. So I’m just going to share what I’m feeling today.

Here we go….

We all know about the significance of Christmas and the New Year, but the holidays are stressful, aren’t they?

I see a lot of people suffering during these times. There’s so much pressure from all sides it seems. It’s not always from bad intentions, but the stress appears.

During this time of festivity, why are we sometimes sad?

I think a lot of it has to do with being busy and overwhelmed. Or missing someone we’ve lost.

It also has to do with high expectations that our reality can never live up to. We want the perfect holiday moment, but it always seems to fall short. Sometimes it’s even a disaster.

Isn’t that the story of our lives?

But the thing is, we actually set our sights too low. That’s right.

We actually should look for more. Look higher.

What do I mean by this?

Many times we desire an earthly perfection that forever escapes us. We see our miseries and the misery of others. And we don’t like it. We don’t like the pain.

Instead, we should remember and know a heavenly perfection awaits us.

Jesus waits for us.

The promise of God is real. Don’t let our fallen reality darken this truth in your life.

If the holidays aren’t filling that emptiness inside, it’s because they can’t. Only the love of God can. That love is rooted in Christ.

Go back again to the basics. The birth in the manger is just the beginning. Symbolically, today, Jesus is a newborn. One. Day. Old.

And he promises you an eternity with him in heaven.

So look there. Aim higher. Rest in him.

Don’t let the worries of this world put out the yearning and fire that burns in your heart.

Your soul cries out to God. He sent his Son as an answer.

You are loved deeply by God.

That is our hope. He is our joy.

Live the promise of heaven. Today. Here. Now.

Your feet firm and solid on earth. Your heart full of the Spirit of Christ.

Your soul, free in God’s loving grace.

Peace be with you!

Prayer for more of God’s love

God’s love is always there for you. Still, you might not feel it or sense the presence of his love. But if you pray for God’s love (or to be more aware of it), it becomes more apparent in your life. Plus, it’s the best cure for all the things you want to improve about yourself.

Praying for God’s love might not be the most common type of prayer, but it should be. When you pray for his love, things take on a whole new perspective. Difficulty shrinks and peace in your heart grows.

One of the greatest things about God’s love is that it removes fear. When you know for sure that you are loved and forgiven, you feel secure. Jesus promises us eternal life. This is the promise of love. Trust and build your relationship with God on that promise. Then  go forth and share the love overflowing from your heart.

Beloved, let us love one another; for love is of God, and he who loves is born of God and knows God. He who does not love does not know God; for God is love. In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him.

1 John 4:7-9

There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear. For fear has to do with punishment, and he who fears is not perfected in love. We love, because he first loved us.

PRAYER FOR MORE OF GOD’S LOVE

O loving Lord,

I’m far from perfect. Many parts of my character could be more pure, and things aren’t always how I want them to be.

One thing I know for sure, one thing I trust in, and count on with all my heart, is the power of God’s love.

So fill me, O Lord, with your grace and loving Spirit.

The best answer to all my problems and imperfections is more of you.

Pour yourself over me, O Lord. Cleanse and restore me. I ask for more of Christ in me to cast out the darkness, fear, hurt and shame.

Your love for me is infinite and all powerful.

I am a child of God.

My lips sings praises to your glory. In Christ, my soul soars free.

In Jesus name,

Amen.

Prayer for hard times in life

Are you in the middle of a very hard trial right now? Maybe you don’t see a way out or maybe things have been tough for a long time, but God is at work. You can count on it.

It’s normal to feel down and troubled during difficult times. This does not mean you don’t have faith. It just means you are human. Still, during the hard times, it can  be especially hard to pray and trust in God.

Don’t let go of Jesus though. Don’t give up hope. Hang on tight to him!

No matter how things turn out, difficult times can always be used for good. Trust in the plans and promises of God. You may not fully understand now, but eventually the Lord will reveal deeper truths to you.

And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, “Eli, Eli, la′ma sabach-tha′ni?” that is, “My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?”

and I will give him the morning star.

Revelation 2:28

Count it all joy, my brethren, when you meet various trials, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.

James 1:2-4

Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me; for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”

PRAYER FOR HARD TIMES IN LIFE

O merciful Lord,

I’m facing a tough time. I don’t want to lose hope, but it hurts. I’m broken.

Do you see me Lord?

Right now, things look so dark. So I cry out to you. I seek the impossible peace.

Let me let go, O Lord, all my fears and suffering into your hands.

Help me to trust in your will despite the trials and hurt. Cast out the enemy, O Lord. Strike down his influence and lies.

My Lord Jesus bled and died for me. May this truth penetrate my heart to heal me and set me free.

Grant me the grace of Christ that shines bright in the night, the morning Star rising in new life and glory.

I am yours, O Lord, now, in the struggle, and forever in your glory.

In Jesus name,

Amen.

Prayer for worry and stress

Feeling stressed out? You probably need a break from your hectic life or maybe you are facing a big challenge or crisis.

There are two ways in which stress and worry go away: when circumstances change or when you change.

Even if it’s hard, even if you feel like you don’t have the time or energy, seek God. Put him at the top of your priorities. Don’t wait anymore. The Lord is waiting to help and heal you, but it won’t happen unless you open your heart to him.

So place all your worries and your fear at the feet of Christ. Be real about it. Sincere. Let it go and give it up to him. Then let his Spirit rush in to transform you and bring you true peace.

Prayer for worry and stress

O God, thou art my God, I seek thee,
my soul thirsts for thee;
my flesh faints for thee,
as in a dry and weary land where no water is.
So I have looked upon thee in the sanctuary,
beholding thy power and glory.
Because thy steadfast love is better than life,
my lips will praise thee.
So I will bless thee as long as I live;
I will lift up my hands and call on thy name.

Psalm 63:1-4

Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, Rejoice. Let all men know your forbearance. The Lord is at hand. Have no anxiety about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which passes all understanding, will keep your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

PRAYER FOR WORRY AND STRESS

O heavenly Lord,

I can’t deny it, worry consumes me and stress brings me down.

So I go to you, O Lord, for in the chaos of this world you are my only hope.

Let my heart know that in an instant of faith and trust in you all my fear can be shattered, and I break free.

For my soul knows, as it has always known, it can trust and rest in you.

For that reason, my soul seeks its Savior.

Christ alone saves my soul. My deepest need now met brings me a calm heart, a humble heart, as the love of God quiets the raging waters of my soul.

By your loving grace make it so. Set me free in Christ.

In Jesus name I pray,

Amen.
