Prayer for God’s goodness

There are some moments in life where it seems like there’s no way out. Your life feels like a disaster. It could be many things at once or maybe one major crisis. And in many cases, the hurt, pain, and loss are all too real.

One of the greatest messages we receive through the Gospels is hope. Even in the most difficult times, we can strive for hope. Even after the most painful loss, we can eventually gain peace again.

It doesn’t mean you forget, or that your life is perfect, but you continue. You can even thrive as time passes.

Still, the hard times never pass by easily. You will be tried and tested. But if you hang on tight to Jesus and his promises, the glory of God will eventually shine though.

Trust in the Spirit. Don’t give up. Hang in there. You are worth it, and you are worth it to God.

Are you facing something very difficult right now? Does it seem like everything is going wrong? You might even be suffering due to your own faults. Maybe you are having a hard time managing a tough situation.

When you have reached your limit, there is one thing you can always appeal to: the goodness of God.

When you just don’t seem to get it right, even though you try your hardest, appeal to the goodness of God. This takes a tremendous weight off your shoulders. You can never go wrong with this request.

You can only do so much, even in your most personal struggles. The final word is God’s Word. Lean on him and into him for help. Open up to his Spirit and let him work.

Remember, when Jesus was crucified, it was not the end of the story. God had much more to do and say. Meditate on this truth. Today is not the last chapter of your life. Even sin and death were defeated by the power of God.

The resurrection of Christ is real. It is eternal. Even in the darkest moments, we can find hope in this. It’s never too late to see the goodness of God shine through.

Prayer for the goodness of God

O merciful Lord,

Send your grace. Pour out your Spirit. By your mercy and according to your holy will.

Not by my works or any merit of mine,

I come to you humbly with my request.

I appeal to your goodness alone.

May it glorify Christ in heaven and bring blessings here on earth.

In Jesus name I pray,

Amen.

Prayer for when everything is going wrong

No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

PRAYER FOR WHEN EVERYTHING IS GOING WRONG

Dear merciful Lord,

Nothing seems right in my life. Everywhere I look it’s a mess. I feel afraid and alone. And I’m tired, O Lord, so tired. What can I do? Who can I turn to?

I cry out for your mercy. I appeal to your goodness. Do not abandon me, O Lord!

Lift me up to you, bring me close. Let me feel your presence, your tender touch, your love, here and now. I need this so much right now.

Hide me in the wounds of Christ. Forgive me, O Lord, of any sin. Cleanse me and heal me. I depend on you, O Lord.

Show me how to rebuild my life. May your Spirit guide me. Let it be pure and good. Give me peace and clarity. Make my testimony strong.

No matter how bad things look now, with Jesus by my side, I will continue. I will survive. All for the glory of God.

In Jesus name,

Amen

Prayer for order in my life

A organized life is built on organized thoughts. Even though outside circumstances have an impact, having your inner life in order makes a huge difference.

Conversation with God helps you focus your thoughts from a heavenly perspective. Prayer won’t solve all your problems, but it will help you make sense of them. A healthy relationship with Jesus puts you on solid ground to face any challenge.

Don’t wait until things get “better”. Deepen your conversation with God instead. Bring him into the center of the picture. Ask him to call the shots. Let the Lord establish his heavenly Kingdom in you. Christ is our King. Let him show you the way.

But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things shall be yours as well. Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Let the day’s own trouble be sufficient for the day.

PRAYER FOR ORDER IN MY LIFE

O blessed Lord,

I have too many worries, too many responsibilities, and I just can’t keep up. Please help me, O Lord.

Bring your order to my life. Tell my heart again about how you love me endlessly, beyond all measure.

Reveal to me if I must let something go. May I seek forgiveness. Let me return to you to be cleansed, restored and free. Cast out all that binds me, O merciful Lord.

Establish your sacred order in my everyday thoughts & life. Set your heavenly priorities upon my heart.

Bring your love and mercy to my center. May I receive Christ deep in my soul. And from that place of truth and clarity may your will be done.

May your Kingdom come.

In Jesus name I pray,

Amen.

Prayer for deep healling

Sometimes we know we need inner healing, and we put it off. Other times, we don’t think much about healing, but we just don’t feel right. Like physical wounds, unhealed inner wounds make us sad, impatient, or even angry.

No matter what you are facing now, take the time to ask God for healing. Even when things seem to be going well, there is always room to be healthier. And for most of us, we have plenty that needs to be restored.

The suffering we see around us, the hurt placed upon us, and the pain we cause to ourselves and others — all of this is a reality of life.  The greater reality though is that we have a merciful God that loves you and wants to heal you.

So go to him. Ask him. He will never turn you away. Let the Lord bring healing, even to you deepest wounds.

PRAYER FOR DEEP HEALING

O merciful Lord,

I feel uneasy and unsettled. I’m hurt and unsure. Come to me, O Lord. Fix my brokenness.

Show me that I can fully trust in your goodness. Let me know that I can open my heart to you, as you will never hurt me and never leave me.

Let me not be afraid to let your healing Spirit work in those places where I feel inadequate or ashamed. No matter how much I hurt, no matter how deep the wound, your loving grace can heal me. I believe in this. I trust in you.

They pierced & wounded Jesus, and his blood soaked the earth. All for me. All for love.

In his wounds I hide my wounds to be safely healed.

Cleanse me, heal me — my heart, mind and spirit — in your sweet mercy my Lord.

In Jesus name I pray,

Amen.

Prayer for guidance and direction

When facing an important decision, take the time for communion with God to help you make wise choices. Jesus did this all the time, and his example is always good.

You might think you don’t have time to pray, but in the end it saves time. Including God in your decision making gives you peace and confidence. Also, it helps you avoid mistakes that would take up even more time later.

It also helps to talk to people you trust about your situation. They don’t have to tell you exactly what to do. But talking about it helps organize your thoughts. Don’t just talk to people who will tell you what you want to hear. Seek wise and sincere advice instead.

Maybe the best thing about consulting with God in prayer is that it builds your relationship with him. It enables you to hear what he has to say to your heart. And it lets you know even more how much he loves you and wants to help you.

PRAYER FOR GUIDANCE AND DIRECTION

O blessed Lord,

I must decide & make choices. Things aren’t clear to me. So I seek your presence now. Won’t you guide me?

Free my heart, O Lord, of any fear and worry. Let me know first that I am your beloved child.

Remove the clutter in my mind. Give me focus and clarity. Free me of any selfish desires or any temptation to compromise my values.

May your Spirit show me what best serves your will, O Lord. May I be guided to choose what is faithful to your purposes and plans.

Speak to me, O Lord, in your Word and in signs to guide me along the path of grace that is Christ Jesus.

May my decision delight you, O loving Lord, in obedience and service to love.

I pray for this in Jesus’ name,

Amen.

Prayer to get closer to God

Relationships are about time and commitment. When these things are present, the bonds grow deeper. To get closer to God, it means you trust in his plans and processes.

If you feel far from God, make the decision to get closer. Devote time to an authentic conversation with him in prayer. Listen to what he has to say in the Holy Scriptures.

As you get to know God more, you will feel his closeness. You will feel his loving grace.

Remember, our heavenly Father is always seeking to get closer to you. He sent his Son Jesus specifically for this purpose.

And once you get closer, make the next move. Let your heart be open to get closer to others and share the love of the Lord.

But a Samaritan, as he traveled, came where the man was; and when he saw him, he took pity on him. He went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. Then he put the man on his own donkey, brought him to an inn and took care of him.

PRAYER TO GET CLOSER TO GOD

O merciful Lord,

I’m feeling lonely & distant. I want to get closer to you, but it’s hard for me. Please help me, O Lord.

Let me not be afraid to look inside. You see and love me, as I am. I am a child of God.

Give me the confidence that you come for me to heal me and set me free. There is nothing to fear in your merciful love.

Draw me closer, O Lord, in your Word & loving grace. Let me come to you and rest. Let me give up all my weariness and shame into the wounds of Christ.

I open myself up to you. In my weakness you make me strong. In trusting you, you enter my heart. And I am never alone.

In the name of Jesus I pray,

Amen.

Prayer for uncertain times

We all know things aren’t so stable these days.  The world seems to be more unpredictable than ever. It’s hard to keep up with everything, isn’t it? And our own lives aren’t always so organized either. For some, the uncertainty even reaches extreme levels.

During uncertain times, it helps to focus on what you can be sure of.  The amazing thing is that you can be sure of eternal truths. And from there, you can find peace and strength.

Embed the God’s truths firmly in your heart. Be certain. Be sure. Be free.

I waited patiently for the Lord;
he turned to me and heard my cry.
He lifted me out of the slimy pit,
out of the mud and mire;
he set my feet on a rock
and gave me a firm place to stand.
He put a new song in my mouth,
a hymn of praise to our God.
Many will see and fear the Lord
and put their trust in him.

PRAYER FOR UNCERTAIN TIMES

O blessed Lord,

Everything is so complex, everything so unstable. What will tomorrow bring? Should I even care anymore?

Teach my heart again, O Lord, that life is fragile and uncertain. I am limited, my life a gift. When I seek certainty, may your Spirit show me how.

Let me be certain, that I am thankful.

Let me be certain, that I am loved.

Let me be certain, that I can love others.

Let me build upon these truths to quiet my doubts & fears.

God is love. Christ has died and risen. Christ will come again. And I am a child of God.

These truths will never fade, and in them I am certain. I am secure.

In Jesus name,

Amen.

A Blessing for the New Year

Blessings to all those who subscribe to PrayerForAnxiety!

I was preparing to post a new prayer today, but I saw many people were accessing a New Year’s prayer from a past post. I read it, and it applies very much to our current times.

Some of you might have never seen it, so I’m posting it again.

Let us be prepared for 2021. May the Lord help us to anticipate the events to come instead of things catching us off guard. We can’t have all the answers, but we can be more solid spiritually.

It will be a year full of new challenges and opportunities. Get closer to God and be ready, come what may.

The abundant grace and blessings of Christ to you.

You are in my prayers every day!

NEW YEAR’S REFLECTION AND PRAYER

As the old year ends and a new one begins, take time.

Time to remember the struggles you faced, and mistakes you might have made, and maybe even loved ones you lost.

In every year, you experience heartache. This one was no different.

And in remembering, find a seed of hope hidden in yesterday.

Remember how you’ve been blessed. Re-live when you found unexpected strength. Recall where you saw God’s great Spirit at work, and know his mercy kept you going all this time.

Recognize his mercy. Ask for his peace.

The peace that pours out every moment of every day from the wounds of Christ.

Prepare us Lord for the New Year. Lift us up and place in our hearts a renewed desire to know and worship you more.

Give us your abundant grace. Shower us with your healing love.

May your eternal Kingdom reign in our hearts and our lives. May the New Year show us once again your eternal mercy and glory.

And let us sing your praises with great joy.

In Jesus name,

Amen.

For to us a Child is born,
to us a Son is given,
and the government will be on his shoulders.
And he will be called
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

Of the greatness of his government and peace
there will be no end.
He will reign on David’s throne
and over his kingdom,
establishing and upholding it
with justice and righteousness
from that time on and forever.
The zeal of the Lord Almighty
will accomplish this.

NATIVITY

Can you go back? Back to the beginning? Nobody knew what was happening. Nobody ever imagined…

The Lord comes to you in a quiet forgotten place, telling you it’s not what you think, so just let it all go to him.

It’s the humanity of God. He comes close to you. Your soul cried out for this for so long.

His love, a deeper love. His truth, a deeper truth. His peace, a deeper peace that finally gives you rest.

On a quiet night, a graceful one, God’s Son is born… and given to you. Take him and hold onto him.

He is innocent and new… vulnerable. It’s all there, in the Child, every hope, dream and aspiration.

Inspiration from heaven above to come alive on earth below.

And all God’s power and glory will be revealed…

In a baby, a little one.

God is with us.

Emmanuel.
