Prayer to keep love strong

When we live with difficulty, it’s harder than ever to love, isn’t it? Instead, you might get frustrated or depressed. You might withdraw or try to escape.

You might be dealing with your own internal issues, like anxiety or sadness. Maybe your family, work, or other relationships are complicated, or even hostile. Perhaps you’re worried about someone close to you who has health problems, or maybe you’ve lost a loved one.

What would happen though if you kept loving even despite the struggle? What might happen then? Maybe a miracle.

Jesus showed us how. He carried his cross for love. He died for us, for love. And by the power of God’s love, he rose on the third day.

Don’t wait until you feel something. Strong love goes beyond emotions. It’s about being decisive and faithful. It’s hanging in there, even when you want to run away. And the Lord sustains you with his mighty hand.

Carry your cross and let love flow abundantly. Give up the things that hold you back from loving more. Rise with Jesus Christ in the Resurrection. Live the miracle of a stronger love.

As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love. If you keep my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commands and remain in his love. I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete. My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.

Prayer to keep love strong

O blessed Lord,

I struggle at times. I get pushed to my limit. It’s so unfair sometimes.

In your mercy & grace you did not deny the harsh reality of our world. Instead, you walked it with us. You took up

your cross. You chose to love more.

O Spirit of God, let me make that choice too. Let me decide and take solid, sure steps.

Let me let go. Nail my negativity to the cross. Let me rise with Jesus. May I be bold in love. Let my love be firmly rooted in the Spirit of Christ, O merciful Lord.

In Jesus name,

Amen
