What are you hoping for right now? Many times we hope for something very specific, but things don’t always work out the way we hoped for.
This doesn’t mean you should lose hope. Still, to have everlasting hope, you might want to shift your focus. For instance, how strong is your hope in God’s mercy? Instead of focusing only on something earthly, eternal hope rests on heavenly promises. A firm hope in God’s plan answers the questions of the soul.
So yes, go ahead and hope for that job, a person to change their heart, or for a specific blessing to come to you. Be willing to wait on that hope. And always place your deepest, most intimate hope in something more profound. In God’s mercy, there is always hope.
Audio message and prayer from Vincent:
. . .
Therefore, with minds that are alert and fully sober, set your hope on the grace to be brought to you when Jesus Christ is revealed at his coming.
1 Peter 1:13
And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast. To him be the power for ever and ever. Amen.
1 Peter 5:10-11
but those who hope in the Lord
will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint.Isaiah 40:31
PRAYER FOR EVERLASTING HOPE
O merciful Lord,
Here I am before you. I have nothing left. My resources & strength have left me.
Now, as I am empty, O Lord, and all my self-confidence slips away, I am left alone
waiting for you. And still, I remember…
When faced with my sin and shame, I had no hope. Then you showed me your great loving mercy. You gave me another chance, and my faith came alive. My hope for a better tomorrow was born.
So here I am again, O Lord, with nothing but my hope in my Lord Jesus Christ. I place my hope upon your eternal truths & promises. Make it everlasting, O Lord.
I place my hope in your mercy. I place my hope in the goodness of God.
In Jesus name,
Amen.
Thank you Vincent that devotion was just perfect for me right now describing life situation feelings and needs.
