Prayer for a strong heart

When you face trouble and see the aggression of the world, the natural reaction is to block everything out. While it’s important to protect your heart, a hardened heart never does anyone any good.

A relationship with Christ gives you the chance to experience a supernatural reaction to all the pain and suffering. When your heart grows, it can love and endure more. God’s Spirit enables you to be emotionally durable and resilient. Even though situations may change, this doesn’t mean you have to love less.

Ask God for a heart that stands ready to face the challenges of our life and times. Ask him for a heart that responds to our loving Savior, Jesus Christ.

Prayer to renew my spirit

Are you feeling tired and empty? Is it really worth all the pain, suffering and sacrifice?

Stop for a moment and remember what you are fighting for. Ask yourself, “Does my struggle have value?” Things usually don’t turn out exactly how you like, but your effort counts. Your contribution is part of God’s larger plan to build his Kingdom. You may not see the fruits right away, but the Lord is faithful and will deliver.

Return to the mercy of God. Double down on his promises. You won’t be disappointed. Your walk with Jesus requires a deeper trust. This is how God forms your spiritual growth and character. Remember what the Lord has done for you, and trust in his promises for the future.

Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.

Prayer to praise the Lord

Are you facing tough times? Does the chaos and danger of the world worry you? Who can you turn to for strength and comfort? There is only One.

When God’s people face overwhelming odds they turn to something powerful: Praise. When you praise God, you recognize his greatness and rightful place in your life as Creator, Lord and Savior. Praise also unites you to something much more profound. You join with a chorus of angels and saints and the entire Body of Christ. This is the force that transforms and saves the world. Praise the Lord!

Then I looked and heard the voice of many angels, numbering thousands upon thousands, and ten thousand times ten thousand. They encircled the throne and the living creatures and the elders. In a loud voice they were saying:

“Worthy is the Lamb, who was slain,
to receive power and wealth and wisdom and strength
and honor and glory and praise!”

Then I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and on the sea, and all that is in them, saying:

“To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb
be praise and honor and glory and power,
for ever and ever!”

Prayer to see God’s glory

He called out to Moses through a burning bush that was not consumed. He parted the waters and made manna fall from heaven. His people were guided in the desert by pillars of fire and cloud. Giants and armies were defeated against all odds. The Word became flesh and dwelt among us.

These were some of the visible works of God. His glory is forever and always manifested for us to see. In fact, in every day and every moment, creation speaks of him. Ask the Lord to open your eyes and heart to see his glory at work. Remember, the greatest glory is Christ resurrected for the salvation of souls.

Prayer to see God's glory

Do you not know?
Have you not heard?
The Lord is the everlasting God,
the Creator of the ends of the earth.
He will not grow tired or weary,
and his understanding no one can fathom.
He gives strength to the weary
and increases the power of the weak.
Even youths grow tired and weary,
and young men stumble and fall;
but those who hope in the Lord
will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint.

Isaiah 40:28-31

When Jesus heard this, he was amazed and said to those following him, ‘Truly I tell you, I have not found anyone in Israel with such great faith.

We put no stumbling-block in anyone’s path, so that our ministry will not be discredited. Rather, as servants of God we commend ourselves in every way: in great endurance; in troubles, hardships and distresses; in beatings, imprisonments and riots; in hard work, sleepless nights and hunger; in purity, understanding, patience and kindness; in the Holy Spirit and in sincere love; in truthful speech and in the power of God; with weapons of righteousness in the right hand and in the left; through glory and dishonor, bad report and good report; genuine, yet regarded as impostors; known, yet regarded as unknown; dying, and yet we live on; beaten, and yet not killed; sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; poor, yet making many rich; having nothing, and yet possessing everything.

Prayer for calm

Do you feel like your life is out of control? It’s hard to be calm inside when you’re overwhelmed with troubles and responsibilities. But to change your reality, you sometimes need a change of heart.

God can make a difference in your situation, but he also wants to make you strong in your faith. The result is a calmness that rises above any challenge. Your character becomes Christ-like, and you even bring calm to others. The Holy Spirit shines from you – even in the middle of a storm.

Prayer for calm

Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock.

John 1:12

He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, ‘Quiet! Be still!’Then the wind died down and it was completely calm.

Prayer for God’s guidance

We like to think we know how to handle things. Or maybe you feel completely lost. The answer is always the same: Go To God. Jesus spent lots of time in prayer. He was seeking guidance, comfort and the will of his Father. If you follow this example, then you will be more secure in knowing God’s plan for your life.

Don’t be afraid to ask about little things and big things. Ask for guidance about how to live, what to buy and where to work. He will guide you if you ask. Then, be confident that God’s blessing is built into  your decisions.

Prayer to accept what I can’t change

Everyone eventually faces something they want to change – but sometimes we simply can’t. It could be the loss of a loved one or a decision made by someone close to you. It might even be a serious injustice. We all should speak our mind with wisdom and conviction. Still, we cannot control the world.

What happens when you finally hit a brick wall? You either accept the situation or get devoured by negative emotions which can lead to terrible actions.

Instead, seek the presence of Christ and be free.

PRAYER TO ACCEPT WHAT I CAN’T CHANGE

Dear heavenly Lord,

Is this what you want? Is it right? Is it fair? How can this be? My flesh and my fears rage against reality.

Help me, oh Lord, to hear your voice. Help me understand. Show me that you are in control of all things no matter how confusing or painful they may be.

I don’t have to like it, but help me accept it.

Show me how to wait. Close the doors that lead to resentment and anger. Let me see the big picture of you working in my heart and in the world.

Show me, oh Lord, that true peace can only come from the wounds of Christ.

You are my rest. You are my home. When I accept you, I accept all that is your will.

Let your truth calm my heart and soothe my soul.

In Jesus name,

Amen.

In the future, when your son asks you, “What is the meaning of the stipulations, decrees and laws the Lord our God has commanded you?”tell him: “We were slaves of Pharaoh in Egypt, but the Lord brought us out of Egypt with a mighty hand.

Before our eyes the Lord sent signs and wonders—great and terrible—on Egypt and Pharaoh and his whole household. But he brought us out from there to bring us in and give us the land he promised on oath to our ancestors.

The Lord commanded us to obey all these decrees and to fear the Lord our God, so that we might always prosper and be kept alive, as is the case today. And if we are careful to obey all this law before the Lord our God, as he has commanded us, that will be our righteousness.”

Prayer to purify your motives

Why do you do what you do? In your family life, at work – even at church – what motivates your actions? Do you want to control things? Do you want attention or recognition? Are you driven by greed? Or do you want to be a source of healing, service and love that glorifies God?

The enemy is very skillful at fooling us. He makes you think your good intentions are enough – even if mixed with selfish motives.

Seek the presence of God. Invest the time to examine your conscience. Let the Holy Spirit reveal to you where your motives might be impure. Then give up the things that make you a slave to your flesh. Be set free by the purifying work of Christ Jesus.
