Prayer for a strong testimony

What is spiritual combat? For most of us the real battle is everyday life. As a representative of Christ, your life testimony is the greatest challenge.

We have to live in honesty and virtue. We must seek ways to serve and to share God’s Word. Our work and citizenship should be impeccable. Christian standards are very high — so how can you do it? First of all, accept that perfection is impossible. Look for improvement little by little. In prayer, ask God where you can change. Be persistent.

When you fail, don’t get stuck in a rut. Dust yourself off, ask for forgiveness and begin again. Remember, nothing can take away your place as God’s child. This is the promise for all who receive and believe.

Trust in the Spirit working in you, and the results will be amazing. You’ll thank God for the solid life he’s given you. Not a life without problems, but a higher truth that gives purpose and meaning to all things.

Prayer for a strong testimony

You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hid. Nor do men light a lamp and put it under a bushel, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.

Matthew 5:14-16

But to all who received him, who believed in his name, he gave power to become children of God

Prayer for when you don’t know what to do

When facing a tough decision, it might feel like your mind goes around in circles. You try to understand and figure it all out yourself, but it’s impossible. This is very common — you are not alone in feeling this way.

It may seem like you don’t have the time to pray about your situation. But if you pray, it will save you time later. There’s nothing that wastes time and energy more than confusion. Prayer helps put your thoughts in order.

Prayer for when you don't know what to do

When you don’t know what to do, go to God in prayer.

It may take time to get an answer, but God always delivers. You might even want to set up a prayer campaign during the process. You can also use a notebook and dedicate time to writing about your uncertainty. Write about what you are praying about and what answers you are seeking. Also, write about what you are feeling. Express your feelings in the most genuine way possible.

After each prayer session, jot down what you think God might be trying to tell you. Repeat this process each day until you begin to have more clarity about your situation.

God’s presence gives you peace. Take the time. Pray. Read from the Bible. You’ll notice the confusion begins to disappear. Try not to have a preference about outcomes, and let the Spirit guide you.

Even Jesus took the time to consult with his Father about tough decisions. Imitate our Lord and the results will be glorious.

In these days he went out to the mountain to pray; and all night he continued in prayer to God.

PRAYER FOR WHEN YOU DON’T KNOW WHAT TO DO

Dear heavenly Lord,

I face situations and decisions. It’s complicated and dense. I feel confused and lost. Can you help me? Can you show me the light?

First of all, oh Lord, calm my heart. Let me know that my peace depends upon you alone. No matter how things turn out, with you at the center of my life, I will stand. I will survive.

May your Spirit keep me balanced. Lord, show me your will. Let my mind and heart be open to what best serves truth and life. Give me courage to do what is right. Show me your word. Reveal it to my heart, oh Lord, and make my conviction strong. For when I go to you, and you show me your will, the blessing is guaranteed.

It may not be easy, it may take time, but upon Christ I stand firm.

In Jesus name, Amen.

Prayer to get close to another

The mystery of human relationships never ends. You want to get closer, but you can’t. You need to feel accepted and understood, but the distance stays the same. No matter what you do, no matter how hard you try and pray, it seems like things will never change.

Instead of looking for a change between the two of you, seek God’s comfort first. When you receive his peace, you can understand things more clearly. This doesn’t mean you should stop trying, but love demands nothing in return. Keep the door open and wait — this will bring you closer.

Wait for those you love. Wait upon the Lord. Rest in his promises. And when the time comes, he will open up the heavens and pour his loving grace over you.

Prayer to get close to another

Love is patient and kind; love is not jealous or boastful; it is not arrogant or rude. Love does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrong, but rejoices in the right. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

Prayer for confidence

The world tells you to believe in yourself and that you can do it. But what happens when your confidence is shaken? What happens when you hit a wall, and it seems like nothing can help you get up again? Or maybe you’re facing a raging storm of problems that just won’t let up. Then self-doubt creeps in, and things get even worse.

In these moments, it helps to return to some basic truths. Dig down to the bedrock, find your footing, and make a stand.

Return to your identity as God’s child. This is the only thing nobody can take away from you. Start building on that indestructible truth. Return to the Cross and the Resurrection. Remember Christ died and was buried for you. He rose again on the third day. Ascending up to heaven, he sits on his throne in glory.

Remember these truths. Reclaim the promises of God. Then let the Spirit of Truth fill you with confidence.

Prayer for confidence

I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish, and no one shall snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me,[a] is greater than all, and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father’s hand. I and the Father are one.

John 10:28-30

Therefore let us be grateful for receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, and thus let us offer to God acceptable worship, with reverence and awe; for our God is a consuming fire.

Beloved, let us love one another; for love is of God, and he who loves is born of God and knows God.He who does not love does not know God; for God is love.In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him.In this is love, not that we loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the expiation for our sins.Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. No man has ever seen God; if we love one another, God abides in us and his love is perfected in us.

Prayer for a family in crisis

Does it feel like your home is a war zone? Or maybe there’s a deep silence. Many families around the world face problems that seem impossible to overcome. If there is any place the enemy prefers to attack, it’s the family.

Situations don’t always turn out the way you like. Accept this and seek how you can change to make things better. If you’re full of the Spirit, you’ll transmit the goodness of God to all those around you. Your suffering has a purpose. It may be mysterious and invisible to the world — but when your heart rests firmly in Jesus, he reveals his glory to you.

No matter how dark things seem, try to keep a long term perspective. Don’t predict doom and failure. Instead, lift your eyes up to heaven and regain hope. Believe in the prophecy of Christ resurrected.

Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; be not frightened, neither be dismayed; for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.

Joshua 1:9

And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Behold, the dwelling of God is with men. He will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself will be with them;he will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning nor crying nor pain any more, for the former things have passed away.”

And he who sat upon the throne said, “Behold, I make all things new.”

Prayer to love God first

Why do we put such a huge burden on people? We expect them to give us the peace our hearts desire. Isn’t God the only one that can do this? Still, we place others on a pedestal — and when they fail — we break down or get angry. Is it fair to put this kind of pressure on anyone’s shoulders? You might even do this to yourself — expecting the perfection that only Jesus delivers to your soul.

This doesn’t mean that we can’t trust or depend on others. It doesn’t mean we won’t get hurt. That’s all part of being human. But when the deepest inner core of your being rests in Christ alone, you receive a peace that goes far beyond people and circumstances. It all begins with loving God above all things.

Jesus answered, “The first is, ‘Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one; and you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength.’ The second is this, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.”

Mark 12:29-31

“If any one comes to me and does not hate his own father and mother and wife and children and brothers and sisters, yes, and even his own life, he cannot be my disciple. Whoever does not bear his own cross and come after me, cannot be my disciple.

Prayer for true humility

How often do we use the excuse of being humble to escape God’s call? Instead of asking, “Who me?” maybe you should ask, “Why not me?” Many times the enemy tricks us into thinking we’re being humble when we really just want to avoid conflict. While we shouldn’t pick fights for nothing, sometimes the Spirit picks fights for us that require determination.

The key to this process means seeking and understanding God’s will. Seek his presence and let his Word show you the right thing to do. Get strength and confidence from the Spirit, and ask for his blessing. Then go forth and do what you have to do. When you trust in the Lord, everything will be a blessing to you and will glorify Christ Jesus.

“Blessed are the poor in spirit,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are those who mourn,
for they will be comforted.
Blessed are the meek,
for they will inherit the earth.
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
for they will be filled.
Blessed are the merciful,
for they will be shown mercy.
Blessed are the pure in heart,
for they will see God.
Blessed are the peacemakers,
for they will be called children of God.
Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

“Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.”

Prayer for the desire to pray

Are you praying less than you used to? Or maybe you never even started. Remember, prayer is the key to organizing your thoughts — which is the key to bringing order to your life. And it’s not just any order – it’s the heavenly Kingdom of God.

Still, it’s hard to find time to pray. You have to fight for these moments. The enemy will do everything in his power to stop you. But when you get on your knees in prayer you are fed by the Creator. You grow in grace. And you see with the eyes of Christ. Could anything be more worthwhile?

Prayer to stand firm

It never fails. On top of daily obligations, other problems seem to sprout up like weeds. Or maybe you’ve been called to serve and the challenges are much bigger than you expected.

Resist the negative emotions of resentment or being upset that things aren’t how you wish they would be. Instead, seek strength and perseverance in the Lord. God doesn’t wave a magic wand to make life easier. Instead, he reveals to you the meaning and value of your struggle. He reveals Christ carrying his cross which leads to a greater glory.

Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.

Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that the family of believers throughout the world is undergoing the same kind of sufferings.

And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast. To him be the power for ever and ever. Amen.
