Prayer for when you don’t know what to do

When facing a tough decision your mind goes around in circles. You try to understand and figure it all out yourself, but it’s impossible. It seems like you don’t have the time to pray about it, but if you pray, the process will save you time later. There’s nothing that wastes time and energy more than confusion. It also helps to talk to someone, but don’t rely on this alone.

God’s presence gives you peace. Take the time. Pray. Read from the Bible. You’ll notice that things begin to become more ordered and clear. Try not to have a preference and let the Spirit guide you. Even Jesus took the time to consult with his Father about tough decisions. Imitate our Lord and the results will be glorious.

  1. I work as a high school counselor and have anxiety everyday . This has been for 15 years. It’s hard to handle the load of students’ emotional issues and needs, difficult coworkers, ambiguity in policies and procedures and my perfectionism that keeps me working long hours. It wears me out mentally, physically and emotionally. I have been praying for strength and peace in my day. Finding faith in God everyday is also what I pray for. I request prayer because I need more help to get through my days. I don’t want to quit my job. I want to stick it out because my students need me. Please pray for my students and I.

    • Thank you so much Jess for sharing your story. And thank you for your service.

Think about how you bring the Spirit of God to your school. It’s incredible! Yes, you suffer. Yes, it’s messy. But as Chris’t body, we are a source of hope and peace to the world. Keep being filled by Jesus, his Spirit and his Word. Do not be afraid! Plus, know your limits and put all the rest in God’s hands. Let Him do the heavy lifting. Peace and grace to you Jess!

I will be praying for you and your students too.
