Prayer to remember God’s love

Sometimes our walk of faith becomes a chore. Instead of happiness we mope around with long faces and kill ourselves trying to follow the rules. Plus, we try to make sure everyone else is following them too. Where’s the joy?

Take a step back. Remember God’s love for you first. You don’t have to do anything to win this, you can’t. Yes, we must repent of our sins, but God’s love let’s you do this without fear of condemnation. Instead, you are set free by the blood of Christ.

God is love and you are his beloved. Rejoice and be glad!

So I went down to the potter’s house, and there he was working at his wheel. And the vessel he was making of clay was spoiled in the potter’s hand, and he reworked it into another vessel, as it seemed good to the potter to do.

Prayer to dream for God

Take a look at your dreams and desires. What motivates you? Where do you want to be in five years? Do you have a vision? Now, take a step back. Is this what God wants for you? Do you share the same dream for yourself as he does?

In some cases, God wants exactly what you want. In fact, he wants to give you even more than you desire. Still, his goals are not based on money or possessions. Instead, God’s dreams for you are heavenly.

Don’t be afraid to dream. Share your deepest desires with the Lord, and let him mold them. He does this in a gentle, patient way. The end result isn’t just a situation, but your soul giving thanks and praise to Almighty God.

Prayer to see deeper

Just because we have faith doesn’t mean we have it all figured out. Our walk with the Lord is an ongoing process to help us understand ourselves and the world. When the Spirit reveals our deepest desires, we can see everything more clearly.

In every activity, consider your motives. Why do you participate? Even sharing the Gospel can be stained with vanity, the desire to control, or vengeance.

Jesus asks us to answer a higher call. His example on the cross is proof of this. His resurrection reveals the power of God’s love and mercy. Trust in this reality. Let him show you the deeper meaning means seeing Christ in all things.

Go and learn what this means, ‘I desire mercy, and not sacrifice.’ For I came not to call the righteous, but sinners.

Prayer for wound healing

Every life comes with pain, struggle and shame. Still, some of our suffering is especially difficult. Sometimes it seems like healing is impossible or just too far away.

They say time heals all wounds, but maybe not. Human understanding and psychology can only take us so far.

The reality that God sent his only Son to die for us is nothing less than monumental. The resurrection sends a clear message to all creation that God is Love. This great outpouring of mercy is proof that nothing is impossible for our great God. No wound is too deep to escape his healing.

Go to Jesus. Be healed. Be free.

Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me; for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

Prayer for an opportunity

Doesn’t it sometimes seem like God takes so long to give us a chance to do things? It might be a job or a moment to share the Good News. Or maybe you want an opportunity to heal a relationship.

Don’t forget, God is always at work. Be patient and let his Spirit prepare you for when the opportunity arrives. The process of asking and waiting gets you ready. So instead of being hurried or proud, your heart is humble and ready to serve.

It shall not be so among you; but whoever would be great among you must be your servant, and whoever would be first among you must be your slave; even as the Son of man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.

Prayer to know Jesus

What does it mean to know Jesus? Who is he in your life? Is he just a historical figure?

Part of getting to know Jesus better is getting to know yourself more. You recall your history and your struggles. You admit the mistakes you’ve made… and you count your blessings.

Many people can inspire you to be a better person — Gandhi, Mandela — even your next door neighbor. But you don’t get to heaven by being “good”. Only one person can transform you. Only one person can wash away your sins and give you eternal life. Jesus shows you what it means to be a child of God.

Pray. Spend time reading your Bible. Be a part of his church, his Body. Seek Christ and receive all the peace your soul desires.

But to all who received him, who believed in his name, he gave power to become children of God; who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.

And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, full of grace and truth; we have beheld his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father.

Prayer to keep God present

It happens to all of us. You feel so full of the Spirit, then suddenly things go wrong. It’s as if you forgot about God altogether. Even though God is the owner of all grace, being aware of negative behavior is important.

When our flesh gets out of control, we become angry or impulsive. The solution begins with personal prayer asking for the Lord’s help. Little by little, he changes your character. Don’t expect to get things perfect or have big change right away. Work on it and let God work on you.

Some people have a tendency to bring out the worst in you — so remember to prepare your heart and mind. Ask the Holy Spirit to get you ready. Stay focused on Christ instead of conflict or insults.

And when you mess things up, don’t give up. Don’t let the enemy win. Instead, go back to Jesus. Ask for forgiveness and begin again.

The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.

and what does the Lord require of you
but to do justice, and to love kindness,
and to walk humbly with your God.

PRAYER TO KEEP GOD PRESENT

Dear merciful Lord,

In silence and prayer I feel your presence. Yet back in the world I forget. Why do I lose sight of you? I know you, I trust you, But I get distracted and fail.

I let my flesh react without thinking or care, ignoring or hurting others even though I don’t want to.

Won’t you change me, oh Lord?

I can’t do it on my own. Remove the obstacles in my heart that cover your grace. When I arise from prayer let me not forget your love, and may my prayer continue.

When I engage with people may your mercy go forth, as I was saved by your mercy.

Let me stand firm on principles, on the rock that is Christ, whose Spirit gives me life.

Help me be humble, my Lord. May your hand never leave me.

Let my life glorify Christ.

In Jesus name,

Amen.

Prayer for when you feel defeated

Sometimes no matter how hard you try, things don’t work out. Nobody likes to fail, and it’s normal to feel horrible afterwards. When you lose time and resources, you feel that it was such a waste. But was it really?

Why does God allow failure? Maybe you were betting on something that wasn’t good for you in the long run. Failure can also be a way to help you develop patience. Or maybe it’s to give you a better understanding about other people’s struggles. In every case — if Christ remains at the center — your character grows in a heavenly way.

When you feel defeated, return to the basics of your faith. Return to something eternal and solid to rebuild and begin again. Like the death of Jesus, your defeat is not the last chapter in your life. Find victory everlasting in Christ.

Here’s a prayer for when you feal defeated…

We know that in everything God works for good with those who love him, who are called according to his purpose.

No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am sure that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Prayer to be useful to God

Are you trying to help someone accept Jesus? Sometimes it seems like nothing else in the world can be harder. Or maybe your’re not sure how to even think, let alone act, in our confusing times.

Your life testimony will speak louder than any words. Are you living your life in a way pleasing to God? Persistent prayer is central to this process. Why? Because for others to change, you must change too. Your communion with the Lord transforms you and those around you. This is God’s perfect economy where nothing goes to waste.

Finally, be fed on the Word of God. This keeps you steady in the storm of ideas and faithful to those you hope will accept Christ.
