The world is full of negativity these days, and it affects us all. The reality is that times are tough. It’s hard to find meaning and truth sometimes.

The more you develop your relationship with Jesus, the more you understand our complicated world. Also, you understand yourself more. Christ is the key to stay positive, even in the worst situations.

Another thing that leads to negativity or depression is being alone. Remember, the Christian faith is a faith of community. Be a part of your church. Don’t expect the people you find there to be perfect — instead, love them for their humanity. And rejoice with the Body of Christ knowing that all things will be well.

PRAYER TO STAY POSITIVE

Oh merciful Lord,

Negativity and noise try to bring me down and isolate me. So I call out to you now.

In the name of Jesus, cast out the enemy and his lies telling me everything is over, and there is no hope.

Fill me with the Spirit of God telling me I am loved, washed clean and reborn in Christ.

May I be steady and quick. Let my faith deflect the enemy’s attack. Strike him down with your Word, oh mighty Lord.

I rejoice in my weakness as it brings me to your feet. A place of glory. A place of rest.

Make it this way for me, oh loving Lord,

In today’s world, spirituality has become a commodity. Everybody is offering spirituality-in-a-box. So we encounter a lot of tips, tricks, methods and quick solutions. The great mystery to spiritual growth might be that it’s not so much of a mystery at all. It’s simply recognizing God is in action at all times.

The most important part of spiritual growth isn’t special knowledge. A humble and willing attitude is all you need. God doesn’t want a change of conduct. Instead, he wants to change your heart.

The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of truth. He motivates you to get to know Jesus more. This relationship produces blessings in your life for yourself and others. As truth of the resurrection conquers your heart and mind, you give up more control to God. In his hands, your spirit soars free.

PRAYER TO GROW SPIRITUALLY

Oh blessed Lord,

I seek your presence now. Let me hear your voice. Speak to my heart.

Show me how to be open to receive your Word. Help me, oh Lord, to grow in your Spirit of truth.

Guide me to understand people and situations. Show me your hand at work everywhere, always.

Let me know Jesus. May I receive his mercy, his teaching, his love. And may my life produce the good fruit of his Spirit.

Help me, oh Lord, to obey your will with joy no matter what the cost. As my soul is redeemed by the blood of Christ.

All this, I ask and trust in Jesus’ holy name,

Amen.

Is there deep trouble in your life right now? Are you facing many trials at once? When the storm comes raging, it’s tempting to think all is lost. But wait… and remember.

Go back to the bedrock of your faith. Remember who Jesus is and what he has done for you. Remember who he is — the Son of God — your Savior. Seek shelter in his grace to give you calm and guide your actions.

You won’t find absolute rest in how people treat you or react. A situation won’t give you lasting comfort. Instead, trust in the owner and giver of true peace. After the storm passes, there will be fallen tress and debris, but your faith will remain. It will grow deeper and stronger. Trust in this process.

PRAYER FOR CALM IN THE STORM

Oh loving Lord,

The wind and rain come down fast and hard, clouds darken against me. Won’t you help me?

Send me your protection and peace against the chaos. May your grace cover and calm my heart even in the uncertainty.

Send your Spirit to show me that no mater what happens my soul is at rest in the love and mercy of Christ Jesus.

May I wait when I must wait, act when I must act. Let patience and clarity keep my mind focused on your will.

This only happens if I trust you and seek you. So here I am, oh loving Lord, at your feet, under your wing until the storm passes.
