Out of the night

Are you tired from the struggle? Just keeping up with chores, bills, responsibilities and family issues can be overwhelming. And what if you have a personal crisis? What happens when you have really big issues to deal with?

To face important challenges, sometimes it’s worth returning to the beginning. Go back to the moment when you first experienced the love of God.

How did you feel when you finally said “yes” to our Lord? Do you remember? That moment lives forever. It can restore you. Return to the beginning and be born again.

Out of the night text

Have you not known? Have you not heard?
The Lord is the everlasting God,
the Creator of the ends of the earth.
He does not faint or grow weary,
    his understanding is unsearchable.
He gives power to the faint,
and to him who has no might he increases strength.

Isaiah 40:28-29

Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign. Behold, a young woman shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Imman′u-el.

Isaiah 7:14

You call out to me

Very few things are constant in the world. People and situations change all the time — but God’s Word is eternal.

When you struggle or doubt, nothing helps you as much as reading the Bible. Sometimes even prayer isn’t the best option since you might be confused. God’s Word is stable. You have it right there in front of your eyes. When you read the Word, you receive clarity and purpose. Then later – in prayer – the message sinks in deep.

When things get tough, stop what you are doing and open up your Bible. You might not want to, but do it anyway. It’s miraculous how the Scriptures can restore you.

Reading the Bible should be part of your everyday routine. God’s living Word is Jesus Christ. It’s a wonderful mystery. When you read the Holy Scriptures, your soul gets fed directly by the Son of God.

You call out to me

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God; all things were made through him, and without him was not anything made that was made. In him was life, and the life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.

John 1:1-5

And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, full of grace and truth; we have beheld his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father.

John 1:14

Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me; for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

Matthew 11:28-30

Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe, for our “God is a consuming fire.”

Wait for Him

Some situations can bring a lot of emotional stress to your life. Maybe it’s dealing with a difficult person or even your own failure. How do you get through it? God’s solutions are complete. He works in all places to bring his perfection. The greatest part of this is what happens inside you.

Wait upon the Lord. Be careful of the desire to rush to conclusions or judgments. Resist acting upon impulses you might regret later. Let the Spirit do his work in others and in you.

I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.

While he was still speaking, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them; and suddenly a voice came out of the cloud, saying, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. Hear Him!” And when the disciples heard it, they fell on their faces and were greatly afraid. But Jesus came and touched them and said, “Arise, and do not be afraid.” When they had lifted up their eyes, they saw no one but Jesus only.

Now as they came down from the mountain, Jesus commanded them, saying, “Tell the vision to no one until the Son of Man is risen from the dead.”

Then Jesus told his disciples, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it. For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul? Or what shall a man give in return for his soul?

“The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’”

“He will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.’”

Matthew 25:40 and 45

Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.
