You told me
No matter how hard the struggle,
No matter how tough it gets,
I will stay faithful.
What else can I do? Where else can I go?
I wandered for years, alone in the wilderness.
I tried to run away.
But you called me, over and over again.
Tenderly. Patiently.
Until I said, “Yes, Lord. Here I am.”
And you didn’t promise me a pain free life.
You didn’t tell me it would be easy.
But you did tell me I could be forgiven.
You told me I could be free.
You nailed my shame to the cross with you.
So I could really try my best.
And sometimes, my best isn’t good enough.
But then there you are, always, faithfully.
You fill in the gaps.
And knowing that you have risen,
Against all odds,
I can rise up to.
Even after being knocked down.
Even after being bruised.
Nothing can separate me from your love that tells me,
I am forgiven. I am free
