  2. My son had a girlfriend who was a nice girl. I always made her feel as though she was part of our family. My son married this girl and the change in her was instantaneous. She found fault in things I say. I spend one evening on the phone with her listening to her yell at me because I have a habit of preemptive behavior.
    So much more.
I was told, not to text her, not to call her, not to email her and this was because I told my sisters and niece when she delivered her baby, she had to go c-section.
She told me all the details but omitted not to tell, my family are very close, I didn’t know it was a secret.
She speaks to me when she has no other choice. They moved 3000 miles away. They now have 2 children and My husband and myself have only been able to visit once. I pray for next year that we are able to visit again. We rarely are able to FaceTime, my daughter in law has the last say. I raised my son to be a strong man, a Christian man. To me with that he needs to be true to his family. I get that.
I know my God is a forgiving God and I feel somehow she thinks she’s above my lord.
This is now six years of pain in my heart that I can’t fix. This is my prayer request, help me find peace in my heart or somehow let her see with clarity what she has done to this family. My daughter lost her brother, we lost our son, my daughter lost knowing the only two nieces on our side that she would ever be able to make memories with. I need as many prayers that you wonderful people care to say for me.
    God bless you.

    • Dear Debbie,
My heart aches for you. I do understand your pain. It is a heartbreaking place for a parent to be, I am so sorry you are going through this.
I think you are right, you alone can not fix this, but God can. Through prayer, forgiveness and showing God’s love, I believe the hardest of hearts can soften. Besides, the Holy Spirit does a much better job than we ever can do, to fix what is hurt and broken. ❤️
I want to encourage you Debbie to continue praying for your son and daughter-in-law. God does hear and answer our prayers. It’s easy to feel discouraged and loose hope when we don’t see results. The Bible tells us in Galatians 6:9 “And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up”. Don’t give up dear heart. Keep praying and seeking Him with your whole heart. I will keep you and your family in my prayers. God Bless you❤️

Lord I lift Debbie up to You in prayer. You know how her mother’s heart hurts. Bring healing and comfort to her. Lift the burden of sadness and fill her with Your perfect peace Jesus, “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid” John 14:27. Lord, Your Word tells us “Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.”. Help Debbie to have a heart that is quick to forgive her daughter-in-law. We know Lord You have forgiven us of so much, and You require us to be forgiving of others., because You want what is best for us; forgiveness sets us free from the burden and bitterness un-forgiveness brings.
Lord when someone hurts us so deeply, it is hard for us to love them, but that is what You desire for us. Fill Debbie’s heart with Your love. Help her to love her daughter-in-law.
I pray that You would soften the daughter-in-law’s heart. I pray that the desire to walk always in Your ways would grow in her heart. Open her eyes to see the truth, Help her to see her mother-in-law, the way You do Lord. I pray that love and respect would grow in her heart for her husbands family.
Lord God, all power is in Your hands. Bring healing and restoration to this family, in Jesus name I pray, Amen.

      • Hello Jan,
Your prayer was beautiful and I thank you for your words. I agree, I can’t fix this by myself. I pray as I’m sure you do throughout the day. I pray for many people, starting with my husband, I pray for my children, spouses, and grandchildren which I have 5. Whether the relationship of my daughter in law is never resolved, I’m not like that. I’m not vindictive. I believe she needs more prayer than the norm. I just want to know my granddaughters and want them to know Mommom. When I get the chance to talk to them they clearly know who I am and they’re very excited to hear from myself and pop.
This warms my heart because I know my daughter in law is not bad mouthing me to the girls. Thinking about it now, I’m sure I think about her everyday but I’m not a thought in her mind.
I’m sorry for rattling this way.
God bless you Jan for your prayers as I will pray for you as well.
I am surprised, for some reason I didn’t think anyone would respond. You all made my day. I just had back surgery two weeks ago and of course not being able to keep my mind occupied as I would pretty much has given me almost a post surgical depression which always is occupied with anxiety.
Today my heart feels the peace, I believe the Lord Jesus Christ led me to this site.
        God Bless
        Debbie

        • Debbie, you have nothing to apologize for.❤️ As you can probably tell, I tend to get very wordy. Without going into too much detail, I do know how you feel. We ave 1 son who is married with our 2 little granddaughter’s. My husband and I do not have a close and loving relationship with our daughter in law. It is something I continue to pray about. I did have to ask the Lord’s forgiveness,, (more than once ) for the hurt she has caused us. And, I also had to ask Gid to help me love her! I have much more peace about the situation now, but it has taken a lot of praying and seeking the Lord to get to where I am…🙏🏻
I am so happy your little granddaughter’s have been left out of the problem, that is a blessing! I hope you recover quickly from your surgery❤️ I will keep you in my prayers (daughter-in-law too). I am so glad you stopped by! God Bless you Debbie.❤️
          In Jesus,
          Jan

    • Debbie, I pray our lord and savior will bring you close to your daughter in law I know how I would fell not seeing my kids or grandkids and I pray for you and your husband that god will bring you all back together as a family. God Bless you all.

      • Thank you, I can’t thank you enough. People tell me to let it go, but that’s difficult considering I have pictures of my family in almost every room. I talk to my granddaughters via pictures,
I am so thankful for the response I received. I am thankful that I am a Christian. The overwhelming support and prayer has helped me, just knowing that our Kings children are reaching out to me.
You all will be in my prayers as well.
        God Bless
        Debbie

    • Dear Debbie,
I’ve seen situations like this in other families. It is truly heartbreaking. I know it hurts you so much. The only answer you have though is to love and to pray… and to accept. As you know, there is no way to force anything. Putting pressure on them never works out well. Be patient and longsuffering. Give as much love and support as you can when you get the chance. And intercede for your son, daughter-in-law and grandkids.
Your daughter-in-law has wounds that need healing. Pray for this with all your heart.
Pour it all out to God and let him do the work.
I will be praying for you Debbie and for your entire family!
      Vincent

      • Thank you for replying and your advise. It truly is heart breaking and I too know people that had similar problems, I never thought it would happen to me. Mainly because we had such a good relationship before the wedding. I saw some signs right before the wedding but brushed it off as wedding jitters.
I agree with what you’re saying but the acceptance is so hard Vincent.
For 5 years I’ve tried putting this heaviness around my heart into the Lords hands yet somehow it comes back to me.
I thank you so much for you response.
        God Bless
        Debbie

    • Debbie it is so difficult when separated and unable to communicate but have a yearning and loss in your heart. I am feeling the same about a relationship i can’t do anything about right now. Prayer is then best thing we can do remembering god listens and is in control of all things. Trust in him when you reach the end of yourself and cast burdens and worries onto him who can handle it.

Lord I pray for Debbie at this time. you understand the feeling of loss and helplessness and desparation so please come with your comfort love and peace. Lord work in the hearts of the family members break the bondage of selfishness and resentment and let love come in. Give wisdom to Debbie to say and act the right way and for the son and girlfriend to welcome family love. Let any fears and Insecurieties be broken in jesus name. I pray Debbie be filled with the holy spirit to feel the faith and trust in you to be able to let go to you and not be overwhelmed by anxiety and pain. In you there is healing and freedom and you work all things for god to those who have faith in you. Enable her to endure these difficult times and draw close to you. In jesus name amen

      • Thank you very much for your prayers Colin. I can’t believe how my soul has reacted to the support I am receiving from all. I went to bed last night giving thanks to the Lord that I stumbled onto this site which has already given me so much comfort. I will continue to pray for my family as I always do but I plan to put more into the the prayers for my daughter in law. In my faith of the Lord Jesus Christ I have to believe in my heart that someday this will be over. I would welcome her with open arms and the past would be forgotten.
        God Bless you Colin
        Debbie
