Hi, my name is Ally. I have been diagnosed with generalized anxiety disorder. My most common triggers are that of mine and my children’s health. Once again a change has happened in my body that is going to require tests and waiting. This always triggers anxiety. I can’t eat or sleep. I pray, but even that just turns to tears. I am so scared of serious illness. All tests in the past have been fine and yet I am crippled at the very thought of something being wrong. I need peace and strength so I can be a better wife…a better Mom.
Dear Ally, go ahead and let the tears fall in the presence of Jesus. He will reach down to help you and heal you. Get help from those you trust in this as well. Look to your church or friends. My name is Terry and I am extremely anxious about my health and although medics have been as reassuring as they can be I still have to undergo further tests. The problem started just when I had made a decision to go to South Africa for two weeks to work alongside a charitable project working with children orphaned by AIDS – I travel next week but don’t feel equipped emotionally for the trip and worry that I will have a negative impact on those around me. The anxiety is debilitating to the point I find it difficult to concentrate on anything and constantly focus on the issue of my health.
